It is hard to believe a year ago we became a family of four! I know a year ago I I didn't have a clue on how this year would unfold. I just tried to list a few words that would describe our fabulous year and trust me it would take an entire page. Way too many 1st holidays, events, milestones, small trips, vacations, family gatherings, etc... Brian and I feel extremely blessed to have Addalyn and Aiden in our life and I knew the day we found out we had 2 heartbeats that God had something really big in store for Brian and I. :)
Updates- Addie and Aiden are having a hard time parting with their bottles but are using their sippy cup better everyday. Aiden LOVES his bottle:) They both like to carry their bottle around with them. They are both cruising around furniture or anything at their standing height. Addie seems close to walking but prefers to get around by crawling or walking while holding your hands. Aiden stands alone but quickly falls:) I'm not sure when they will both start walking b/c with everything else it just seems to happen over night. They are both talking up a storm. Addie tries and does a great job with the word "cracker" it sounds like "cakle." The other words that we hear ALL THE TIME are "dog, duck, da da, and ba. (Addie says "good girl" sounds more like "cgoo gil." TOO CUTE and a little ironic at times. ha ha They love music and singing songs seems to be all we do. The favorite is "Itsy Bitsy Spider" Addie loves to try to make the spider with ther fingers. We will post a video sometime soon. They like to imitate all the time with animal sounds and words. Aiden loves to say the word dog. Everywhere we go he quickly starts saying "dog" over and over looking for any that might be there. It looks like a dog will be the next member of our family soon. (OUTDOOR dog of course) Their conversations with each other can't get any cuter! A fun game they like to play in the kitchen is TAG:) It is hilarious how excited they get. They play sooo well together. Twin friendships are kinda hard to explain or understand....I think. We just LOVE to watch them play.
The first birthday party was a success! We found out that Aiden can get overwhelmed when all the attention is on him and he became a little scared and shy. Addie really enjoyed the attention and was not shy, which we assumed would happen. We are so thankful that our friends and family could join us in celebrating their birthday it was so special to see everyone come to the party. Thank you!
On the twins actual birthday I took them to McDonald's for their first happy meal. This is something I'd like to do every birthday until they realize there are other places they'd rather eat at on their birthday. Both of them loved the french fries. :) Addie could have eaten an entire cheeseburger if I let her! Aiden wasn't sure but chewed on it for a while. He preferred his Uncle Neal's blue powerade:)
So many of our friends and family are having babies this year and we are thrilled for all of them. We got tons of advice before and during the first year with Addie and Aiden. I really don't think I did a great job of following all of the wonderful advice. For example-"people told me not to hold them all the time"--I held and still hold my babies all the time :) I realized that all kids are different so I guess if I were asked what advice I would give someone who is expecting or even expecting twins is to really enjoy the bond you make with your baby and that it's ok to mess up once or twice. We would love to thank everyone for all their help and prayers through our FIRST YEAR!
Brian and I survived the first year!
