Roller Coaster

Well since my good buddy Darren went off the deep end and created a blog about their pregnancy, Emily has been on me about helping her set one up. Thanks a lot Darren, I owe you one.

For those who are not aware, let me just say that this pregnancy has been one heck of a roller coaster. It has often left me envious of those who birth babies without complication, who seemingly enjoy pregnancy every step of the way, and who get excited, rather than painfully nervous, when walking into an ultrasound room . Though as much of a struggle as it has been, I have been able to put aside those negative feelings and be thankful God has blessed us with two children. It would be ungrateful of me to feel any other way, when I know there are many deserving families unable to experience what we have experienced--good or bad.

Instead of taking you through the entire ride, I will just provide an update of where we are currently. We are extremely excited to announce we are having a boy, Aiden, and a girl, Addalyn (Addie). Emily will be 32 weeks on Friday. Our last appointment went very well. Addie, the little chunk, weighed 4 pounds, and Aiden weighed in at 2 pounds 6 ounces. 2 pounds 6 ounces doesn't sound like much, but it was beyond our expectations considering everything the little guy has been through. I told Emily, Addie must seem like King Kong to him :)

Emily has to start going in twice a week for checkups. The doctors want to monitor the babies and make a determination about when to deliver. Hopefully they will hang in there for a few more weeks.
